NA5 Networking meeting - Functionality of the Database

From: 27 November 2006, 11:30
To: 28 November 2006, 13:00
Place: NILU, Norway
Details:

One of the central achievements of EUSAAR (http://www.eusaar.net) will be to develop the EMEP/EUSAAR database to allow improved access to its content (data and meta-data) which so far has mainly been accessible from the inside of our fire-wall. This will benefit both external users and the operational activities of the CLRTAP. To ensure that we get necessary guidance for our developments, we hope that you are able to participate in a dedicated workshop to prepare our work. The workshop will hopefully include the EMEP meteorological Synthesizing Centre West, representatives involved in GAW data management, site operators/data originators and also some modellers involved in the data assimilation of GEMS.

At the meeting we will introduce you in detail to the existing and established functionality and routines related to EMEP data management. Furthermore, we will introduce proposals for new functionality (incl. NRT-data provision), user interface, treatment of meta-data (QAQC, site information etc.). We will also briefly introduce how the developments here relates to other current or planned activities in initiatives like ESA-CDB, EUCAARI, EARLINET-ASOS, GEOMON etc. The main aim of the workshop is to gather ideas, requirements and wishes from potential users of the improved data service. The outcome of the meeting will be used to specify the details of EMEP/EUSAAR database developments.

The meeting will be held over 2 half-days. The draft agenda can be downloaded here (comments and suggestions are of course welcome).

Please confirm your participation by sending an e-mail to Ann Mari Fjaeraa before 10.11.2006.
